Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling based martial art that focuses on ground fighting techniques and submission holds involving joint-locks and chokeholds. BJJ uses the principals of leverage, angles, pressure and timing, as well as knowledge of the human anatomy, in order to achieve a non-violent submission of one’s opponent. Jiu-jitsu is often referred to as a game of “human chess” because it exercises both the body and mind and you are constantly adapting your strategy to the movements of your opponent.
Studies have shown that the majority of street fights end up on the ground which is why at RiceBros our goal is for you to feel confident and capable while fighting from the ground. Black belt instructor, Nicholas Rice has a knack for taking a complicated technique and breaking it down to a level that a beginner can understand and implement. We at RiceBros know that what sets Nicholas apart is that he teaches the little “nuggets” that makes the technique work!
